A wedding favor, sometimes called a give away, is the small gesture that sends your guests home with a smile. A carefully wrapped macaron, a stamped cookie with Love is in the Air, a mini cupcake or a glazed donut: it doesn't have to be big, it just has to be right. For macarons we offer white boxes for 2, 4 or 9 pieces and luxe tubes for 1 or 2 macarons (per 100). For cookies there are cookie bags with cardboard backing in 8x10 cm and 11x15 cm. The cookie rests on a sturdy piece of cardboard and is then placed in a clear cellophane bag. This keeps the cookie flat, prevents breakage and gives every favor a clean, professional finish. For mini cupcakes and donuts you'll find boxes with our signature shop window flap, exclusive to our own line. Combine each item with matching labels and stickers, satin or cotton ribbons and kraft paper filling material in natural or ivory. Tip: our filling material is food safe (Reg EC 1935/2004), dust free and free of allergens, so it doubles as a base layer in transparent boxes where the macaron sits directly on top.

How to choose the right high cake box for the wedding cake

A wedding cake needs a box that's just slightly larger than the cake itself, so it doesn't slide around but the icing edges, drips or fresh flowers don't get pressed against the sides. The rule of thumb: choose a box at least 2 to 3 cm wider than the cake, or exactly the same size as your cake board. And always choose a box that's at least 5 cm taller than the cake itself, so toppers and flowers stay clear of the lid. Our high cake boxes with shop window are an in-house design exclusive to Cupcakedozen.nl. Made of 400 gsm FSC cardboard with a separate lid featuring a large transparent window and side walls that fold completely open, you can slide the cake in without the decoration brushing against the cardboard. For larger wedding cakes of 2, 3 or more tiers you'll need extra height and strength. The high cake box white 30x30x35 cm and the XL formats 35x35x30 cm and 40x40x30 cm are made of 420 gsm GC cardboard (FSC Mix), with sled feet under the bottom for added stability and a transparent window in the lid so your creation stays visible during transport. If you prefer to carry the cake, the Dasbi cake boxes with handle in 25x25x35 cm and 30x30x35 cm have a smart locking closure and a window.

Cake boards: the sturdy base for your wedding cake

A wedding cake stands or falls with its base. For tiered cakes and heavier creations we recommend our Dasbi 9 mm thick MDF cake boards in Ø30, 35, 40 and even 60 cm. These boards are FSC certified, finished in matte white with a black edge and have a special biofilm coating that's antimicrobial, grease and moisture resistant. For lighter cakes or upper tiers, the gloss white 4 mm MDF cake boards (Ø20, 28, 30 cm) are a good choice. Choose your size based on your baking tin. A 15 cm tin gives a finished cake of about 17 cm, so you'd pick a 20 cm cake board with a 20x20 cm box. A 20 cm tin calls for a 25 cm board in a 25x25 cm box. A 25 cm tin goes on a 30 cm board in a 30x30 cm box. And so on, up to a 35 cm tin on a 40 cm board in a 40x40 cm box. Cake Frame for sturdy tiered cakes

The Cake Frame is a central dowel combined with a cake board featuring a central hole, designed to make tiered cakes completely stable. The dowel is just slightly wider than the hole, so the construction sits tight and the cake doesn't wobble, not even during transport. An indispensable tool for any baker building multi-tier wedding cakes. For added hygiene and protection you can wrap the dowel in foil or floral tape.

Fillable transparent cake tier: the floating wedding cake

Tips for an unforgettable wedding sweet table

Stick to one color palette. Combine no more than two or three colors plus gold or silver for calm and elegance. Keep in mind that white is the trend color for cake boards and wedding cakes in 2026: a white board acts as a blank canvas, making your colors pop. Play with height by alternating cake stands, a floating cake tier and individual mini cakes. Place wedding favors near the exit so guests pick them up on their way out. And personalize each piece with a sticker or label featuring the couple's names and date, so the favor keeps reminding guests of this day later on.

Safe transport to the venue

A wedding cake that doesn't arrive intact is a disaster. Some practical tips from our own experience. Place the cake on a cake board that exactly matches the bottom of the box, so it doesn't shift. Choose a high cake box that gives 2 to 3 cm of clearance around and at least 5 cm of clearance above. Position the box flat in the car, in the trunk or the passenger footwell, never on the seat itself. Use a non slip mat. On warm days, cool the car beforehand. For tiered cakes, always use the Cake Frame with central dowel.

Sustainable packaging for your wedding

We often get asked whether cardboard or plastic is more sustainable. The answer is: it depends on the use and on what happens after the wedding. Our white cake boxes are made of GC2 cardboard with partial recycled content and are food safe. The windows are usually PET, clear, dimensionally stable and recyclable in plastic recycling streams. Clean and dry cardboard without grease stains can go in paper recycling. With used window boxes, detach the window so the cardboard (if clean) goes to paper recycling and the window to plastic recycling. Our shop shop window boxes are FSC certified and produced in a closed production line from forest plantation to cardboard mill to die cutter. No detours, just demonstrable food safety.

Which cake box fits a three tier wedding cake?

For a three tier wedding cake we recommend a high cake box of 30x30x35 cm, 35x35x30 cm or 40x40x30 cm, depending on the height and diameter of your bottom tier. Place the cake on a 9 mm MDF cake board with the same diameter as the bottom tier plus at least 2.5 cm of margin all around, so it stays stable during transport.

Which cake board is strong enough for a heavy tiered cake?

For heavy wedding cakes and tiered cakes use our 9 mm MDF cake boards by Dasbi (available in Ø30, 35, 40 and 60 cm). They are far stronger than a standard pressed cardboard cake drum, FSC certified and finished with an antimicrobial biofilm coating that's grease and moisture resistant.

How many wedding favors per guest should I order?

Plan one favor per adult guest and add a 5 to 10 percent margin for unexpected guests or accidents while wrapping. Thanks to automatic volume discounts the per piece price drops as you order more.

Which topper suits a rustic wedding?

For a rustic, botanical or boho wedding the wooden MDF cake toppers Lovebirds, Je t'aime and Just Married are a beautiful choice. Wooden toppers harmonize with natural decorations like eucalyptus, dried flowers and linen tablecloths. For a modern minimalist wedding the silver acrylic Mr & Mrs topper is a better fit.

How do I transport a multi tier wedding cake safely?

Use a high cake box with window that gives at least 5 cm of space around and above the cake. Place the cake on a 9 mm MDF cake board, position the box flat in the car in the trunk or footwell (never on the seat), and use a non slip mat. For tiered cakes always use the Cake Frame with central dowel for added stability.
